The objective of our research was to examine the Brief Portrait Big Five Questionnaire (BF-10), a 10-item domain-level personality scale designed to assess the Big-Five personality dimensions. Participants of the study were 1183 adults between the ages of 16 and 84 (M = 36,82, SD = 13,28), 60,9% of the sample were women. The mean level of the Big Five traits was in the range from 2,7 (Neuroticism) to 4,61 (Agreeableness). The rank order of the means: Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Openness, Extraversion and Emotional Stability. Means for women were higher for all of the Big Five traits (differences were not significant for Openness). The association of the Big Five traits with age was positive for Agreeableness and Conscientiousness and negative for Extraversion and Openness. Test-retest reliabilities ranged between 0,61 (Conscientiousness), and 0,84 (Extraversion) with a 0,75 average value. The alpha reliabilities ranged between 0,38 and 0,64. Internal consistency was the lowest for Agreeableness with average alpha of 0,58 for the other four traits. To evaluate the convergent validity of BF-10 it was compared with Russian adaptation of BFI, HEXACO-PI-R, and Eysenck’s Extraversion and Neuroticism. Convergent correlations ranged between 0,29 and 0,70, and divergent correlations – between 0,09 and 0,21. The level and the structure of correlations of the BF-10 traits with locus of control, sensation seeking, tolerance to ambiguity and the Dark Triad was in accordance with previous data.
