Interconnections between post-traumatic stress, combat experience frequency, personality characteristics of the Internal Affairs Department officers who took part in counter-terrorist operations in the Northern Caucasus (N = 139) and their marriage satisfaction and upbringing problems are studied. It is shown that marriage satisfaction is lower and upbringing problems are more frequent in officers with high level of post-traumatic stress disorder. Frequency of combat experience and post-traumatic stress serve as predictors of upbringing process problems and may influence family system characteristics differently.

Keywords: posttraumatic stress, combat experience frequency, personality characteristics, marriage satisfaction, upbringing process problems, combat operations
