The academic achievement level in twins and singletons from 2 to 11 grades was compared according to a 5-point scale. The subjects were 4564 twins and 4065 singletons (collective study, Department of Behavioral Genetics, Faculty of Psychology, Lomonosov Moscow State University). The analysis shows that twins having been behind in studies in primary school, make up for singletons already in 5 grade and further are equally successful. Twins vs. single-born children achievements in different subjects show significant distinctions only learning Russian and Mathematics in primary school and learning Russian in 7–11 grades.
Following step was the comparison of different groups of twins with each other and with single-born peers. The performance in all groups of pupils appeared to decrease from 2–4 up to 7–11 grades. Significant differences in twins and single-born children were not observed. However the verbal development delay in twins lasts until the end of school education.
